How You Can Help
When Ben Hollinger started gathering animals for an exhibit in Queen Kapiolani Park in 1914, the young Parks and Recreation administrator aspired to connect park visitors with nature.
More than a century later, the Honolulu Zoo offers residents and visitors a chance to explore, appreciate, and protect a wide variety of tropical species in vibrant, natural environments. With community support, the Honolulu Zoo successfully provides a secure, nurturing home for many species with whom we share this planet.
The goal is safeguarding this celebration of animals, plants, and culture in today’s urban environment. As a 501(c)(3) organization, the Honolulu Zoo Society thrives due to the dedicated financial support of its patrons. Our initiatives provide valuable benefits to the community by:
- Providing educational and volunteer opportunities for keiki to kapuna.
- Creating enriching experiences for zoo guests.
- Advocating for the conservation of animals, plants, and culture.
- Fostering an understanding of the connections between humanity and nature.
