Yes. Before your child can join us at Zoo Camp we need to have at least one +1 (US) phone number. We cannot place international calls from our Camp Cell. It is important this is a personal line that can put us immediately in touch with a parent in case of emergency and NOT a hotel line.

While we have many bilingual campers and a few bilingual camp staff, this is a safety policy. Everyone needs to be able to understand directions given by any of the camp staff, junior leaders or Zoo employees.

While we have air-conditioned classrooms for our campers, they do spend the majority of the day out in the Zoo learning and playing games. It can get rather hot and humid in the Hawaii climate and it is important that kids are able to drink water whenever they need and while they are out and about Campers can refill water bottles with ice cold water throughout the day.

Campers are required to wear closed toe shoes. We suggest sending them in a pair that you know will stay on their feet during rigorous play. Please apply sunscreen prior to camp and send them with a hat for additional sun protection.

The short answer is no. However we do have a petting zoo that is home to goats, chickens and other domestic animals that campers can touch when supervised. Your child will never be forced to touch or interact with an animal if they do not want to.

No. These are package items and we do not offer a daily rate.

Yes! The Honolulu Zoo Society welcomes children with special needs. Please email jsmith@honzoosoc.org so that we can accommodate you.

Our staff are trained in CPR/First Aid/Epi-pen use. However we do not have an Epi-pen on grounds. If your child has a severe allergy, please provide an unexpired Epi-pen. It will be given to the teacher to hold onto for your child’s camp stay. If purchasing lunch for Zoo Camp, please be sure to include ALL allergy information!

We also provide snacks at Zoo Camp, if your child has an allergy to the snacks, we will do our best to provide an alternative.
