The fundraising gala was an overwhelming success and raised well over $100,000 to complete Rusti, the orangutan's new banyan tree home.

Four hundred guests representing leaders in local government, business and philanthropic circles attended the sell out event and enjoyed a festive, Indonesian-themed evening under clear skies and a spectacular full moon. On behalf of the Honolulu Zoo Society's Board of Directors & staff, and Honorary Chair, Mayor Mufi Hannemann, our heartfelt appreciation goes out to the literally hundreds of supporters who sponsored tables, donated to the silent auction, provided products and services at deeply discounted rates, or volunteered to plan and work the event itself.
